So, our administrator wants us to re-evaluate our late work policies.... I don't accept late work, period....Math-- well, if you dont do it one day, you are already behind for the next..and Chemistry..well, if you are in Chemistry, you'd better be doing your homework. He thinks it will help more of our kids succeed if we allow late work. My students keep their homework-- I go around and give them credit... so if i were to change, it would be--- "ok kyle, give me your homework, i am going to turn mine in tomorrow...." Kind of defeats the whole purpose. My grading system is set up so that homework, classwork, and tests/quizzes are worth 25, 25, and 50% respectively. So, if you do your homework and all your classwork, you can not fail. Let's reward laziness....
His label for not accepting late work..."credit stealing" he calls it.... Last I knew kids had to EARN the credit, they just didn't get credit for showing up...maybe I am wrong there too...
